Who we are

Recognizing the crucial role of capacity building, NWRC prioritizes collaborative and interdisciplinary initiatives to empower professionals with skills, knowledge, and tools for sustainable water practices. In 2022, NWRC evolved its strategic vision by establishing the Water Science and Engineering Services unit, later restructured into the Capacity Building Unit (CBU), aimed at coordinating training programs and supporting national development and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) objectives. 

Vision and mission

The Capacity Building Unit (CBU) aspires to lead nationally by enhancing water professionals’ skills through tailored training, knowledge exchange, continuous learning opportunities. The CBU aims to empower stakeholders to address critical water challenges and drive sustainable practices. Ultimately, the CBU envisions a future where its leadership in capacity development and knowledge dissemination contributes significantly to the sustainable management of water resources nationwide.

Our services

CBU offers variety of training activities using the developed knowledge within NWRC, tools and qualified staff for NWRC staff, MWRI engineers, university students and private sector. This technical training includes basic knowledge in water field, specialized training and tailored training courses to match with the trainees training needs. To prepare the undergraduates students to work in the field of water science and engineering, CBU organize summer courses for colleges’ students to increase their knowledge regarding the water engineering field. In the meantime CBU is working to enhance the soft skills and leadership of its staff to prepare a qualified water mangers capable of dealing with future water challenge more professionally.

Hydrology & Water Management: Hydrology & Water Management course prepares specialists who monitor the quality, quantity, and movement of waters on Earth. Hydrology students explore ways of controlling water resources and preserving their quality. Classes include knowledge from Environmental Science, Geology, or Geography. Hydrologists aim to solve pollution and limit its negative impact on humans and the environment.

Courses take place over one semester (September – February or March – August), which is equivalent to 45 hours of instruction and practice.

Specialized topics covered in a variety of formats. Courses are typically offered over the course of a month or several weeks, with sessions meeting every week.

Intensive courses consist of 75 hours of instruction over five weeks. Participants must submit all assignments and final exam to receive their Certificate of Completion,
