Under the patronage of the President of the National Water Research Center NWRC, the Capacity Building Unit CBU organized an introductory seminar on the Prima Grants Program for the year 2024 under the supervision of Dr. Eman Ragab, Head of the Unit that held through an online ZOOM program.

Enhancing international cooperation and research and innovation capabilities in Egypt is the main goal of the event. Additionally, the event aims to present the PRIMA projects program, assisting researchers in securing funds for scientific research projects in member states, spanning 19 Mediterranean countries, Egypt included, focusing on water, food, and agricultural systems.

This event aims to promote Egyptian researchers’ involvement in collaborative projects addressing key challenges in the Mediterranean region and to present the features and requirements of the PRIMA 2024 program, considering its significance in academia and research.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Wajih, the general coordinator of the “Prima” program, was greeted as he presented information about the organization, the requirements for applying for grants, and the process of collaborating with partner countries to develop a top-notch research proposal at different phases.

Dr. Mohamed Wagih, Program Coordinator, emphasized the significance of enhancing research and innovation capacities, fostering collaborative knowledge creation, and offering innovative solutions for sustainable and interconnected agri-food systems, as well as for water provision and management in the Mediterranean area.

The growing complexity of social, economic, and environmental challenges requires collaborative efforts and shared resources through research and innovation. The PRIMA Initiative has introduced a novel approach to enhance multiple sectors through research and development.
