Sustainability of life, economic development, and hazard mitigation require clear understanding of the local hydrological systems. This course introduces fundamental concepts, analytic practices, and modeling of watershed hydrology. To examine how rainfall storms forms flash floods, we study the application of the Hydrologic Engineering Center HEC-HMS software.
The main objective of the course is to update and provide new tools for surface hydrological modeling. Specific objectives are:
• Develop strong knowledge of physical hydrology
• Overview on hydrological modeling tools
• Practice selected problems using HEC-HMS
